We use our 8KCAB Super Decathlon for our basic
tailwheel training.
FLIGHT
# 1: (approximately 1 hour)
1. Climbing Dutch Rolls
2. Slow flight and turns
3. Critical attitude recoveries: Stalls (Power on and Gliding)
4. Deep (oscillation / rudder) Stalls
5. Introduce 1-turn spin
6. Practice takeoffs and landings
7. 180 degree gliding approach to land
FLIGHT
# 2: (approximately 1 hour)
1. Climbing Dutch Rolls
2. Review stall entry and recognition (Incipient and full)
3. One-Turn spin left and right
4. Spin orientation
5. Practice takeoffs and landings
6. Simulated off-airport emergency landing
FLIGHT
# 3: (approximately 1 hour)
1. Full aileron dutch rolls
2. Skidded turns
3. Incipient spin entries - accelerated spin recoveries
a. Skidding
turns (“under-the-botton”)
b. Slipping
turns (“over-the-top”)
4. Spin dynamics (Effects of power, aileron, rudder and elevator
in a spin).
5. Slips left and right
6. Practice takeoffs and landings
7. 180 degree gliding approach to land

# 4: (approximately 1 hour)
1. Aerobatic style turns
2. Wing overs
3. Slipping turns left and right
4. Slipping stalls
5. Spirals and spiral recoveries
6. Review accelerated stalls
a. “Under-the-bottom” (skid) stalls
b. “Over-the-top” (slip) stalls.
7. Practice takeoffs and landings
8. 180 degree gliding approach to land

- Spin Endorsement (CFI applicants only)
